Here, haunts meet history and mysterious encounters mingle with lighthearted celebrations. Whether you're seeking something truly eerie, a touch of Halloween magic, or simply a great excuse for an October getaway, West Volusia offers numerous ways to celebrate the season.

Experience the Mystique of Cassadaga
For a Halloween experience unlike anywhere else, make your way to Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. This isn’t a haunted-house attraction or your typical ghost tour—Cassadaga’s fascinating history and spiritual traditions are very real parts of this one-of-a-kind community.

Established in 1894 and often called the “Psychic Center of the South,” Cassadaga is home to one of the oldest active Spiritualist communities in the Southeast. Wander its quiet streets, explore meditation gardens, take a historic tour, or attend a seminar to learn more about the community’s unusual beginnings and enduring spiritual traditions.

Visitors can also schedule readings and spiritual healings with certified mediums and healers, making Cassadaga an especially intriguing destination during the Halloween season.

And after dark, things get decidedly scarier nearby. Hotel Cassadaga transforms for Halloween with “Evolution of Fear,” a high-intensity haunted experience featuring special events October 16–31. It’s a dramatic change of pace from the peaceful atmosphere of the Spiritualist Camp, adding a few screams to your West Volusia Halloween getaway.

While Cassadaga offers an otherworldly side of the season, the Halloween fun doesn’t stop there. Across West Volusia, October brings everything from family-friendly trick-or-treating to full-fledged haunted-house scares.

On October 23–24, experience Blue Spring State Park after dark with two nights of Halloween adventure. Brave a haunted trail, explore the park on a guided moonlight hike, discover what lurks after dark, or take to the water for an evening river cruise, all against the beautiful natural backdrop of one of West Volusia’s most popular parks.

Looking for something a little scarier? In Orange City, the Sorosis Club turns up the fear with its annual haunted house, Awakening Your Nightmares. Brave the experience on select nights from October 22–31—if you dare.

The reportedly haunted Hotel Cassadaga transforms for Halloween with “Evolution of Fear,” a high-intensity haunted experience featuring special events from October 16–31.

On Halloween night, October 31, the annual Monsters on MainStreet block party takes over Downtown DeLand. Costumes, trick-or-treating, and plenty of Halloween spirit fill the heart of downtown during this free community celebration.

Gather the family and head to the Annual Harvest Fields Corn Maze for a day of adventure filled with hay rides, duck races, pumpkin picking, and more!

Fields of Fright starts with a haunted hayride through a cornfield to the bottom of a giant sinkhole. If you make it through, you will walk through a haunted house and descend into the haunted cornfield to meet your favorite scarecrow lurking in the shadows.

In addition to the corn maze at Harvest Fields, visitors can also enjoy a day of adventure filled with hayrides, duck races, pumpkin picking, and more!

Come out with your furry friend for the DeLand Halloween Craft and Pet Event featuring local crafters and pet-themed vendors! Don’t miss the chance to showcase your furry friend in the pet costume contest and parade.

Come on out for a spooky good time at 101 Paws and Claws. They’re offering their very first public tour, and it’s Halloween-themed! Come see the sanctuary in the evening, fully decorated, on a guided tour.

Explore the Spooky Nature Trail at Lyonia Environmental Center! Enjoy Halloween-themed stories, then hit the trail to discover the not-so-scary side of snakes, insects, plants, and more. Collect stamps along the way to earn a sweet treat at the end!

Celebrate spooky season outdoors with Tricks and Trails at D Ranch Preserve! Take a sunset hike or hay ride, enjoy local craft beer and candy along the trail, discover bat boxes, snap a photo with the bat-wing mural and experience wild Florida after hours.

Step into the shadows during Creepy Candlelight Tours at DeBary Hall Historic Site. Explore the historic mansion’s darkened rooms and narrow hallways by candlelight while hearing spooky tales from the past. Expect a few mild frights along the way!
