In 1865, John B. Stetson designed and marketed the now-iconic "Boss of the Plains" cowboy hat, establishing a lasting legacy of style, craftsmanship, and the American spirit. In celebration of the 160th anniversary of the Stetson Company, Elizabeth Maycumber has curated a multi-site exhibit that explores the early history of this groundbreaking hat and its creator, along with an impressive array of Stetson hat designs from various years. The exhibit features highlights such as men’s top hats, sombreros, ladies’ toppers, pillbox hats, and other intriguing pieces from Stetson University’s duPont-Ball Library Archives and Special Collections, the John B. Stetson Company, and the Museum of Art-Deland.
